In this nicely centered composition, a man stands in the doorway of the second story of a stable in Nashville, TN, while a horse-drawn buggy pulls up out front.
Embossed in lower right corner of mount, "E.S. Dunshee". Written on a piece of paper behind the plate in brown fountain ink and pencil, in wonderfully ornate script, "Miss Jennie Owins/Nashville/ Tennessee/December 17, 1865". E.S. Dunshee, the photographer of this plate, was active in Massachusetts and Rhode Island from 1865 to 1875.
