Trager's photo company was called Northwestern Photographic Co. This company was formed in Chadron, Nebraska, to circulate images taken by Trager who made the first photographs of the aftermath of Wounded Knee.

Chief Hollow Wood (Northern Cheyenne) participated in and survived the Battle of Little Big Horn.
