Christophe Gœury and Millon's photography department will present a fine selection of 19th-century and 20th-century prints and will showcase contemporary works by distinguished and rising contemporary photographers in their coming auction, which is entitled, "Collections & Propositions" on Wednesday, May 15, 2015.

An ensemble of 64 waxed paper negatives by Gustave de Beaucorps will be presented in over 30 lots. This coherent ensemble brings together photographs taken during his European travels between 1856 and 1859. The group focuses especially on his passage through France and Belgium, and from the Amalfi coast and the bay of Naples to Florence, Pisa and Rome. Seen as a pioneer photographer and considered a "primitive" among his peers, de Beaucorps immortalized castles, churches, cities and natural sites at a time when urban and rural landscapes were changing dramatically. In this ensemble are some exceptional images like the view of Paris, which follows the perspective of a never-ending street towards Montmartre where the windmills break free from the horizon.

A full album of salt paper prints on Persia from 1853-1858 by Luigi Pesce will also be exhibited. These prints are amongst the first images taken of Nasir-al-Din Shah's court and various sites in Persia. These include mosques, ruins and reliefs, and are the only existing representations of these monuments and architectural sites, which have since been destroyed. Their testimony and quality attest to the rarity of the album.

A selection of prints from the 20th century:
--Several vintage silver gelatin prints by Jacques-Henri Lartigue from his wife Florette's personal collection to the current owner.
--A series of photomontages by Pierre Molinier.
--17 portraits of artists (unique objects) from the CoBrA movement as interpreted by Aernout Overbeeke.
--And prints by André Kertész, Mario Giacomelli, Robert Capa, Maurice Tabard, Paul Facchetti, Eva Besnyö and some French humanist photographers.

The highlight of the auction will be the leap to the 21st century with contemporary works from acclaimed photographers, including Stephen Shore, Peter Beard, Joel Meyerowitz, Terry Richardson, Nan Goldin and Marc Lagrange. And will also feature upcoming artists, such as Laurence Demaison, Bob Kauders, Barry Lategan, Erica Lennard and Romano Cagnoni.

The sale will finish with the Belgian Baron Beyens's personal collection of works by Helmut Newton, Cecil Beaton, Edward Weston, Jeanloup Sieff, and many more.
