The image is slightly cropped from the original on both left and right to fit on scanner. From the movie Gone with the Wind, this print was made especially for Warner Brothers' publicist Robert S. Taplinger. Warner Brothers had lent Olivia de Havilland to the GWTW project. This is not the typical still that you see on the market. It is oversized, on good double-weight semi-matt paper (rather than the glossies you usually see) and of high quality; it also passes the blacklight test, all lending credibility to it being made prior to 1955. Both Clarence Bull and Fred Parrish took the still photography for Gone with the Wind. Scene shows Scarlett O'Hara trying to avoid a plunging horse as she gets news during the Atlanta siege. Two small closed tears at left only about 3/16 in. into image. See: Gardner and Gardner, Pictorial History of Gone with the Wind, p.173 for a cropped version of this image. Provenance: estate of Robert S. Taplinger.
