A magnificent structure dating from Edward I, Carnarvon Castle is in North Wales. Born in England, With the title in pencil in the photographer's hand on the verso of the mount. Leighton, who lived and worked in Bradford, U.K., was an active member of the Royal Photographic Society and the Camera Pictorialists of Los Angeles. He was very active in the salons of the day from about 1915 until his death in 1947. A number of his images were published in the American Annual of Photography in the 1920s and 1936. His work is included in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Museum of American History, Smith College Museum of Art, the Worcester Art Museum, Princeton University and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia. He is listed in the Auer and Auer and George Eastman House databases
