Fraenkel Gallery, now beginning its 45th year, is making an important transition in leadership. After nearly 40 years with the gallery, Frish Brandt will assume the position of President Emeritus, effective January 1, 2024. Concurrently, Daphne Palmer will become the gallery’s new President. Jeffrey Fraenkel, the gallery’s founder, will continue to lead the gallery.

Frish Brandt has been an integral part of Fraenkel Gallery as President and Partner, shaping the gallery’s direction and contributing to its success. Instrumental in fostering strong relationships with artists, museums, collectors, and the wider public, throughout her tenure she has played a pivotal role solidifying Fraenkel Gallery’s position as a leader in the field.

As President Emeritus, Brandt will continue to contribute her experience and deep knowledge of the art world to ensure a seamless continuity of the gallery's vision and values. "I am proud of how we’ve grown the gallery and am excited to witness how it will continue to evolve with the capable leadership of those who will shape its future," says Brandt.

"Frish's singular perspective and warm approach have helped define the gallery, and her years here will continue to have an enduring mark," says Jeffrey Fraenkel.

Daphne Palmer joined Fraenkel Gallery in 2013 and was appointed Director and Partner in 2019. Stepping into the role of President she brings a wealth of experience and fresh perspective. With an impressive track record and deep knowledge of photography’s central role in the arts of the 20th and 21st centuries, Palmer is poised to guide the gallery into a new era of growth and innovation.

In her first decade at the gallery, Palmer built relationships with artists and collectors, and forcefully expanded the gallery's digital presence through an innovative series of online exhibitions. In 2020 Palmer became a founding member of 8-Bridges, the Bay Area gallery platform that played a pivotal role throughout the pandemic.

"I am thrilled to step into this new role at Fraenkel Gallery and to continue to work alongside the talented artists and staff who have built the gallery into an influential and respected institution, said Daphne Palmer. I am committed to upholding the gallery’s rich legacy while embracing new opportunities to engage with an ever-evolving audience.”
